Interventional Radiology Services

Interventional Radiology is an area of radiology that specializes in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. Many of these procedures have become the treatment of choice in many cases because they offer lower risk, less pain, and shorter recovery time compared to traditional surgical techniques. Some of the procedures we commonly provide include, but are not limited to:

Vascular Access Procedures
Provides catheter transfer of medication, blood, nutrition, chemotherapy and other IV services (PICC, Infusaport, dialysis)

Vascular Stenting and Angioplasty
Widens and opens blocked or narrowed arteries to promote healthy blood flow

Thrombolysis
Targets and dissolves vascular clots without surgery

Embolization
Directs embolic agents into a blood vessel to treat abnormal bleeding or starve tumors

Thermal Ablation of Tumors
Uses directed heat to destroy tumors with less risk compared to open surgery

Minimally Invasive Biopsy
Utilizes imaging technologies to guide a biopsy needle to a lesion for cell collection

Uterine Fibroid Embolization
Treats uterine fibroid tumors without surgery by blocking blood supply to myomas, starving and shrinking them

Aneurysm Coiling
Treats or prevents brain aneurysm by using a microcatheter to navigate coil placement into a weak or bulging blood vessel

Stroke Management
Uses microcatheters to remove or liquefy clots blocking blood flow to the brain or open up and stent narrowed blood vessels

Feeding Tube Placement and Management
Provides image-guided placement of a gastrostomy tube for temporary or permanent feeding

Spine Procedures
Utilizes fluoroscopic guidance for focused epidural steroid injection, facet block, medial branch block and other spine/low back pain treatments
